Greg Jennings is Movin’ On Up…or Moving Out

Wooo! Real estate!

Wooo! Real estate!

Well, it was probably inevitable.

In what may be a reporting first, Realtor.com has announced that Packer wide receiver Greg Jennings has listed his De Pere home for sale. The report was initially noted by Green Bay Press Gazette reporter Wes Hodkiewicz.

From this news we can draw two conclusions. Either Greg Jennings is making like the Jeffersons and movin’ on up…or he’s getting read to ship out of town.

Though perhaps unexpected, the move is a bit startling nonetheless, if only because it confirms an unpleasant reality for fans. A Packer stalwart for the better part of the last decade, Jennings was a key contributor on the 2010 Super Bowl team and ranks as one of the more prolific receivers in Green Bay history.┬áThe Western Michigan product was on the receiving end of both the 400th and 421st passing touchdowns in Brett Favre‘s career, and his 53 receiving touchdowns put him at fifth in the all-time annals.

Given Ted Thompson‘s proclivity for releasing players sooner rather than later, it’s once again not surprising to see Jennings on the way out. He’ll be 30 in September, and though he may have many productive years ahead of him, the Packers have both depth and youth at the position behind him. Wide receiver is also one of the least essential positions on a football team, and may also be one of the easiest to replace.

So if you’re in the Green Bay area and looking for a new real estate investment (or perhaps the ultimate piece of memorabilia), you can own the former home of one of the Packer greats of the 21st century.
